Truss Engineering Design Services
Timber Truss has an in-house Engineering Department. Every roof truss, floor truss and wall panel built by Timber Truss is custom designed in the engineering department. The truss designers come from various technical backgrounds with degrees including, but not limited to, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Wood Science and Mathematics. Some of our designers have over twenty years experience in the truss industry.
Two licensed Professional Engineers are included on our staff. One Professional Engineer is licensed in Virginia and the other is licensed in Virginia and in North Carolina. We also have access to engineering seals from our software supplier with licenses in all fifty states and some overseas licenses. We can provide sealed drawings for any truss we manufacture.
Software The Engineering Department utilizes the latest in design software. The truss designers use the Intellibuild layout program, TrusPlus truss design software, TJBeam design software for I-joists and manufactured beams, and TJXpert I-joist layout and design software. These programs are supported by our connector plate manufacturer ITWBCG and manufactured lumber suppliers. The programs are constantly upgraded to satisfy current code requirements. The Intellibuild layout program allows us to build a three dimensional model of most plans to determine the exact trusses required. TrusPlus works with Intellibuild to transfer the profile and load requirements to the actual truss design. Similarly, TJXpert builds a 3-D model of I-joist rafter or floor systems to ensure accurate member analysis and quoting.
TrussMark Homes The Timber Truss Engineering department has worked with the in-house Architectural department in the development of our company's proprietary line of panelized homes called TrussMark Homes. All of the in-house plans have been designed to work with panelized products and will work with current building codes. Although the TrussMark Homes have been created by our own teams, every truss is re-engineered before manufacture to ensure it conforms to current codes.
Custom Home Plans The Engineering team will panelize most custom plans as well. Through the use of our 3D software, we can build CAD models of custom plans to determine to what extent they may be panelized.
Commercial Projects The Timber Truss Engineering staff has broad experience in commercial projects. We have designed projects ranging from booster club concession stands to multi-million dollar school and apartment projects. Again, each truss is custom designed to the codes specified by the building designer. Through our broad range of educational backgrounds and design experience, Timber Truss' Engineering Department is well suited to meet your project needs.
